Mashreq: taking social to the next level


The inquiry

Mashreq Bank is one of the largest privately owned banks in the UAE. They are active on social media across the dominant channels with more than 500,000 fans on Facebook alone. The goal was to take their social media presence to the next level: increasing brand awareness and engaging its target audience to enter an online conversation.

The approach

We gained insights about the brand and its online reputation to analyse its current situation. Then we created a Social Media Strategy, which addressed issues such as the brand’s Social Mission, Social Brand ID and Social Story. After implementing the strategy, we created and developed engaging content. To re-launch their social media efforts, we created a social media campaign called ‘Facebook Firsts’ and used Facebook advertising to increase the campaign’s reach.

The result

Mashreq is an innovative company famous for being the first for a lot of things in their industry and they wanted to spread this message. By using a Facebook app, Mashreq gave people the opportunity to look back at their ‘Facebook Firsts’: their first activity on Facebook.
